Courage is the starting point of everything good. To love another is to automatically feed the fire of courage. Everyone knows a mother will do anything to protect her children. Love turns the gentle lamb into a lion. Love gives us a mighty weapon. We cannot be humiliated when we are fighting for someone or something we love. We will not give up when we are fighting for loved ones. We will certainly die for that which we hold dearer than our own life. Do not underestimate the power of one who loves. Ruth St. Denis

When Ted Shawn first saw Ruth St. Denis perform in 1911 he was enthralled. He was nineteen; a student fresh from religious studies and a ballroom dancer. He looked at the famous, thirty-two-year-old dancer with adoration. She combined his two great loves – dance and spirituality.
