Let Nothing Disturb You – Teresa of Avila

Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten you. All things pass. God never changes. Patience achieves everything. Whoever has God lacks nothing. To have courage for whatever comes in life – everything lies in that. You pay God a compliment by asking great things of Him. It is foolish to think we will enter Heaven without entering into ourselves. The closer one becomes to God, the simpler one becomes. To reach something good, it is useful to have gone astray thus acquiring experience. Be gentle to all and stern with yourself. May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us. – Sayings of St. Teresa of Avila

No lazy mind comes to poetry.
For poetry goes where we are reluctant to travel.
Travel we must.

  1. This was so breath taking, Donna! Thank you so much. Teresa of Avila is one of my favorite Mystics. I even went to Avila, Spain to visit the town in which she grew up and the convent, the Incarnation, where she lived. I have her picture and this prayer that you recite on my kitchen table. Many blessings in your life, Donna. Love, Carol Pedigree
