Circles of Separation: Naming Rights

“The worst place is at the fork. You can’t keep going the same direction as you came. You have to choose one or other path. Whatever the choice, at least, it is movement.”

Interlude: Amira’s Names

Amira has different names in the different Circles. She is called Vera in the Outer Circle, Amira in the Middle Circle, and Lady Faith in the Inner Circle. Vera’s mission in the Outer Circle is to remember her spiritual name. Vera means faith. In remembering her name of Lady Faith, Vera also connects with her purpose and spiritual worth and is called Lady Faith henceforth. However, on Earth (the Middle Circle), she is called by her Earth name of Amira. Continue reading “Circles of Separation: Naming Rights”

Circles of Separation: Lowlands

“You can’t fight fire with fire,” said Odin. “Everyone gets burned.”

Chapter 64: Tension

“Thank God,” said Ide as she lay on the floor of her dear and peaceful lounge room. “No more hospital visits.” She had returned from the city for the last of Christopher’s visits to the surgeon after his broken leg. “No more fighting the city traffic,” continued Ide in singsong fashion. “No more crazy hospital. No more graphic YouTube videos.”

“What do you mean?” asked Salt. Continue reading “Circles of Separation: Lowlands”

Not As It Seems

How can we see things as they really are? Thought is very powerful and the underlying intention is everything.

How can we see things as they really are? It’s important, don’t you think? For example, honesty can seem like meanness when, really, it may be love. Niceness can seem loving when, really, it may not be at all. People can wish us dead and still be polite to us and people can, sometimes, seem harsh when, in fact, they would give their life for us. The behaviour of a person does not necessarily correspond with their underlying intention. If we can’t see people clearly, we can end up trusting people and situations that are not in our best interest and dismissing people and situations which would make our life better and happier. It is not just in regards little things but if we understand the far reaching and powerful effect of thought, we realise that it can even be a life and death matter. Thought is very powerful and the underlying intention is everything. Continue reading “Not As It Seems”

Surrender – poem

I surrender all to you.
I surrender my life to you.
I will do whatever you want.
I will go wherever you want.
I will love whoever you ask me to love.
I will give up all my stupid opinions.
I will give up all my hopeless cravings.
I release my broken dreams.
I forfeit my planned futures.
I am at your mercy.
I will think no thought
or proceed with any action
which does not come from you
because You love me.

The Idol Maker – poem

I do not know who
is the maker of the idol
but there it was, alive and well,
this thing I so desired.

A little time, a little more,
the idol was not so sweet.
It showed its wear, its shine was dull,
this thing I so admired.

The idol which deceives
is an idol weaving dreams.
It surely will delay
the coming of the day.

Fall, it must,
for an idol is a lie.
The treasure it would seek
becomes the wind-borne dust.

Fear not its death; a troubled tear,
a sleepless night, the idol breaks apart.
But in the morning, clean and white,
the idol leaves no mark.

Together: Couple

Chapter 29: Half-half

Ide had spent the last two days trying to make a workable budget. It still wasn’t working. Adding to the problem was her difficulty in getting full-time work at Waldmeer Hospital. She was an excellent nurse and the patients, often, specifically asked for her. She treated everyone with the same care that she would her own relatives. However, the Matron had been at the hospital almost as long as it had been there or so it seemed. She held onto the full-time positions for the locals. Ide wasn’t born in Waldmeer and so the Matron did not have her on the special list. Besides, the Matron was more than a little jealous of Ide. Not only did the patients love Ide but it did not go unnoticed that Ide’s patients seemed to heal faster and have fewer complications than most of the other patients. Ide was, after all, a descendant of the Clinkers and they have healing in them. Matron didn’t know about Ide’s connection with the Clinkers and Ide, certainly, wasn’t telling her. It would have given Matron more ammunition and she already had enough. Continue reading “Together: Couple”

The Space Between Us – poem

Mind the space, so long endured,
it’s best for our protection.
I hope it’s true, for if it’s not
a thousand loves have I betrayed.

Look closer, dear,
a voice it sings as if it was a lullaby.
But if I heed it may become
the lure of my demise.

In fear, we come together
seeking a place of refuge.
In fear, we keep the space
lest our refuge become our captor.

The moments of sweetness
so easily discarded
when danger calls from
the abyss between the two.

Do not push away love’s hand
in punishment for what it cannot give.
Together we bypass the gap
which is as deep as it is old.

Forget the chasm
so jaded with angry dreams.
Our fear is empty-handed.
Love’s hand has room for the other.
